Roland Orzabal, 64, co-founder of iconic band Tears for Fears, has become a father again after welcoming a baby girl with his wife, photographer Emily Rath.
Emily, 38, first revealed her pregnancy in June, posting a glowing photo of herself cradling her bump in a striped midi dress. The couple’s joyous news was later confirmed by Roland’s bandmate Curt Smith, who told Vulture in August: “We were going to tour this summer, but Roland and his wife had a baby in June. So the summer touring obviously was off because you don’t want to be away from home that close to having a baby.”

Fans have since rushed to send their congratulations, with one writing: “Congratulations to you and Roland on the birth of Eula!” Others called the little girl a “sweet gift” and praised Emily for her “glow and beauty of being a mother.”
The couple’s relationship has already been marked by resilience and romance. After postponing their original wedding in 2020 due to Covid, they “secretly eloped” atop Aspen Mountain in Colorado, with Emily later describing it as “the most magical moment of my life.” A year later, they hosted a celebratory wedding at Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire with family and friends.

For Roland, this new chapter comes after years of personal struggle. He previously lost his first wife Caroline, who died in 2017 aged 54 following a long battle with alcoholism-related dementia and cirrhosis. The grief sent him into rehab and inspired Tears for Fears’ 2022 comeback album The Tipping Point.
Now, with the arrival of his daughter, life has given him another chance at joy. Emily recently posted about the band’s song Emily Said, writing: “It’s a good day for Emilys around the world because Tears for Fears just released a song about us.”
