Heartbreaking: Perrie Edwards revealed she suffered a miscarriage at 22 weeks, calling it “the worst day of my life.” Meanwhile, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s reaction to the news left her feeling even more shattered

Perrie Edwards has spoken openly about how her fiancé, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, was left “traumatised” following her miscarriage at 22 weeks pregnant.

The Little Mix star, 32, recalled the painful moment on Paul C. Brunson’s podcast, We Need To Talk, saying she instantly felt something was wrong during a scan. “The doctor just kept going over the same thing again and again. I’ve never had an out-of-body experience before, but everything suddenly went into slow motion,” she explained.

She remembered sobbing uncontrollably as Alex, who was injured at the time and struggling to drive, tried his best to get them home. “I couldn’t even see straight. I was just distraught,” she said.

Perrie described how Alex was “so worried” about her but also deeply shaken himself. “He felt a lack of control, like there was nothing he could do. But he was amazing, just staying by my side and trying to be strong for me,” she said.

Speaking to Glamour, she added: “I kept asking him if he was okay, and he would say, ‘It’s not about me.’ But it was about him too – we both lost a baby. I could see how traumatised he was, even though he tried to hold it in.”

Perrie, who already shares a son Axel with Alex, previously revealed she had suffered an earlier miscarriage during her first pregnancy. But she admitted that the second loss hit her hardest, because they had already begun preparing for the baby’s arrival. “When you’re 24 weeks and you’ve planned the room and everything, it’s really hard,” she said.

Now, the couple are looking forward again as they prepare to welcome another child together, with Perrie calling Axel her “rainbow baby” – the child she was blessed with after loss.
