Dave Marrs Shares Sad News About His Mom

On September 20, Marrs took to Instagram to share a tribute to his mother, who recently passed away.

“I’ve been dreading having to make this post. It seems like once I write it, everything becomes real. Set it stone. Unchangeable,” he wrote in the caption.

Marrs continued, “My mom, Donna Marrs, has lost her fight with dementia, but is now singing and dancing with angels.”

The HGTV star explained how difficult it is to navigate the tremendous loss. “I feel so very sad and broken! Sad that I will no longer be able to hear her voice, see her smile, hug her body,” he wrote. “I’m trying to find comfort in: Psalm 34:18 that says ‘The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.’ I just haven’t found that comfort yet, but I know in time, I will.”

Marrs continued with the tribute, noting, “But, I also feel blessed.”

“Blessed that our entire immediate family was able to be together and say goodbye, something I know Mom would have loved. Blessed that my children had a great relationship with their Nana. Blessed that I had such a role model, as her, with me for 46 years. Blessed that we still have such an incredible Papa in my Dad,” he wrote.

The “Fixer to Fabulous” star shared, “So mom, please know that you were loved by everyone you met. You have run an incredible race that is now done. You can rejoice and dance, and sing, and see all of those you have lost and missed over your life.”

He shared, “Second Timothy 4:7-8 says; ‘I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day — and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.’”

Marrs added, “Mom, you have fought the good fight. Rest and know you have a family, friends and a son that dearly miss you. I love you! I know you will never stop watching over us all!”
