King Charles and Queen Camilla to attend special service as Kate Middleton and Prince William absent from announcement

Kate and William don’t seem to be attending

t appears King Charles and Queen Camilla are set to attend a very special event next week, without Prince William and Kate Middleton.

August 15, just eight days away, marks the 80th anniversary commemorations of VJ Day. The day remembers the surrender of Japan, which effectively ended World War II.

This year marks a huge 80 years since it took place. And to mark the occasion, the king and queen are expected to front a service.

What is happening for VJ Day 2025?

According to reports, there will be a day of special commemorations to mark the date. And it’s believed King Charles and Queen Camilla will even lead some of the events.

It’s believed that there will be a week of special events that numerous different royals will attend. But it is expected that the king will speak on the actual anniversary.

Reports claimed that the king and queen will lead the nation’s commemorations of the 80th Anniversary of VJ Day on August 15.

King Charles is expected to deliver an audio message and both will attend the Poppy Legion Service of Remembrance at the National Memorial Arboretum.

Before that, there will be other royals heading to different events that are all remembering the historic event.

Who else will attend with King Charles and Queen Camilla?

Earlier in the week, the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh will reportedly meet WWII veteran Jim Wren. Jim was serving on the HMS Repulse when he was captured and held in Sumatra until the end of the war.

Prince Edward and Duchess Sophie will attend a service at Edinburgh Castale on VJ Day.

They aren’t the only royals that are expected to make an appearance, however, as the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester also have duties that week.

They’ll attend the Far East Prisoners of War VJ Day 80th Anniversary service at Norwich Cathedral. They’ll also attend a second service in tribute to the children and families of the Far East Prisoners of War in Suffolk.

Will Kate and Prince William attend?

In a surprising turn of events, Prince William and Kate Middleton are not on the line-up. Their names weren’t mentioned in the reports of events.

While they may still be attending, it looks unlikely as nothing has been announced. The reason for this is unknown.

However, Kate has still been taking her time to recover properly after her cancer battle. And in recent times, she has stepped away from certain duties. So it could be that she is looking after her health first. However, there is no indication as to why William may be missing the occasions.

It is also the summer holidays, so Kate and William may want to spend as much time as they can with their children, before the school year begins.
