WWE Legend Hulk Hogan Dies At 71
On July 24th, news broke that wrestling legend and WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan had passed away. He was 71 years old.
Medical personnel were called to his home in Clearwater, Florida, early that morning. The dispatch call revealed that responders attempted to revive him for 30 minutes. Hogan, born Terrence Gene Bollea, was transported via ambulance to a nearby hospital, where he was declared to be deceased.
His death was confirmed by Clearwater Police Major Nate Burnside in a news conference that afternoon. Additionally, Burnside noted that there were no signs or suspicion of foul play surrounding the athlete’s death.
Later, the news was shared by Hogan’s family on his official social media pages. They wrote:
“It is with a heavy heart and deep sadness that we confirm we have lost a legend. Our beloved Terry Bollea, known worldwide as Hulk Hogan, passed away today surrounded by his loved ones. At this time of grief, we ask that everyone please respect the privacy of his family and friends. May we all take solace in the wonderful memories he left behind for the millions of fans worldwide whose lives he touched for more than four decades. He will be missed, but never forgotten.“
Exactly one week after his passing, Hulk Hogan’s cause of death has been made public. Page Six reports that the star wrestler died of an acute myocardial infarction, commonly known as a heart attack.
According to the outlet, he suffered from atrial fibrillation, or AFib, according to medical documents. This heart condition is characterized by an irregular and rapid heart rate.
Additionally, records show that Hogan had a history of Leukemia CLL, a type of cancer that attacks the white blood cells.
World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) shared a statement online mourning the loss of the iconic athlete. They wrote:
“WWE is saddened to learn legendary WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan has passed away.
One of pop culture’s most recognizable figures, Hogan helped WWE achieve global recognition in the 1980s.
WWE extends its condolences to Hogan’s family, friends, and fans.”
